Reception Perception


Before reading on please saunter over to the reception area in your office. Perch in the very seats that your clients occupy when they first brave your business. Sit and see through their expectant eyes. Do you see a space that inspires confidence and communicates vision? Is it a dynamic space or is it securely wedged into a specific (and historic) time period?


It can be scary to view your office reception area through the eyes of your clients. And yet, it is a very valuable study of the power of first impressions. The fact is that all of your brand positioning and marketing efforts can be negated if a client bursts through the front door of your office, and in a moment, senses a disconnect between their mental image of your company and the very real one there before them.


A reception space that your clients are comfortable in and your office staff is proud of is not only attainable, but a much simpler endeavor than you might think. And, it needn’t bust the budget either. The key is to find a design firm that will take the time to understand you, your business and your clients in order to create a reception space that:

  • Caters first to the immediate needs of your clients (such as an established law firm, a calming medical office or a cutting edge consultant)
  • Creates a strong first impression that reinforces the company’s marketing stance
  • Is saturated in progressive, timeless design that will retain it’s vitality for many years


So how comfortable is that reception chair that you’re sitting in? How is the view? Does it inspire and instill trust in your company? A first impression is difficult to overcome so perhaps it’s time to ensure a positive one. Your clients and your team will thank you.
