So you think you need a chair mat? Most likely you are hoping to protect your investment in your floor and roll easier.  This little guide will help you select a chair mat that is right for you.

Years ago chair mats were hard acrylic or masonite and available in only a few different sizes.  These seemed to work for all thickness of carpet but problem occurred... either manufacturers would not warranty them (and over time they would crack) or the mats would annoyingly slide around on the floor as you rolled.

These days chair mat manufacturers use flexible vinyl in different thickness to provide a long lasting solution. The improvement in this product necessitates selecting the correct thickness of mat to suit your flooring.
