Our story

Lovers atWork Office Furniture is solidly established as the leader in office design and furnishings in Southwestern Ontario. Outfitting complete office spaces for some of the most recognizable companies and organizations in the region since 1983, they have a reputation for excellence in their field, both anticipating and meeting their clients’ needs.

The Lovers team aspires to stay on top of the trends in office design. A current trend – ‘resimercial’ spaces – combines the benefits of residential comfort with commercial efficiency. An additional trend atWork is driving is the creation of movement-based office spaces. The available research on sedentary workplaces clearly demonstrates the resulting health crises for employees. Lovers is committed to anticipating their clients’ future needs and designing spaces appropriate to those needs.

Rodney Lover, Director of Sales and Marketing, recognizes how the current business stands on the work and example of the previous generation. His grandfather, Robert Lover, came to Canada as a 12-year-old orphan in 1915. With a positive outlook and an incredible work ethic, Robert worked as a farmhand and, over time, made an excellent life for himself.

Years later, Rodney’s father, Dale, worked with his family in the Culloden, Ontario general store over which they lived and the pattern of family-based, entrepreneurial endeavours began. The current atWork Office Furniture family was started in 1983 by Dale after the closing of a small chain of department stores that Robert and he ran together.

Rodney looks back on the example set by his father and grandfather with an eye to duplicate the work ethic they modeled: “I think working hard honours both the opportunity we have been blessed with and the people that we get to meet.”

With an appreciation for the family history successes of young and diligent workers, Lovers atWork has focused on helping youth to develop and to execute leadership skills, both in the atWork business and in the community. Not only are high-level positions at Lovers entrusted to young business leaders (some beginning to work at Lovers in their teens), but opportunities for youth in the community are sponsored by Lovers atWork (including scholarships and training and mentoring initiatives for interior design college students).

Merely having good furniture solutions in stock is not enough to keep customers satisfied for over decades. Lovers atWork is also known for their first-class customer service. A values-based personnel sets them apart from the rest of the field. From individual consultations, personal on-site evaluations, and on-going phone and email conversations, the Lovers atWork design team ensures that the client is heard and that their needs are met. From the showroom staff to the designers to the installation team, every atWork team member takes time to get it right for each client.

In January 2020, Lovers atWork Office Furniture transitioned to a new generation of owners… Rodney Lover and long-time team members Jeff Douglass and Andrew Kaikkonen – both started with the company early in their career. As an ownership trio and with an awesome team, they look forward to many more years outfitting clients for workday success.

atWork For You!

We ordered some outdoor patio tables last year for the summer and we had some break before patio season this year. I ordered and paid for replacements online and then got a follow up phone call from Nancy to confirm the order. When she heard about the broken ones she said she would contact the manufacturer to see what they could do about warranty. I sent her a couple of pictures and she was able to get 2 more chairs delivered as replacements for the broken ones. She went above and beyond to help us out. Excellent customer service.

I had a very positive experience with Jeff's atWork Office Furniture and the broader atWork organization. I bought an office chair a few months ago. The shopping experience was very good at Jeff's. Debbie was very helpful. I ended up ordering online because I needed it shipped to a different occasion. After a few months the chair developed some problems, but was still under manufacturer's warranty. I contacted Jeff's and they were very helpful dealing with the issue and handling the communications with the manufacturer. A replacement part was shipped to me promptly via Purolator and things are back to normal. Many thanks to Debbie B., Melanie O. and Laura B. for their help! I will not hesitate to do business with atWork in the future.

I’m very happy with both the chair and the support I received from Atwork. The chair itself is well-designed, comfortable, and offers excellent value for the price. What truly stood out, however, was the customer service. After discovering a damaged part, I contacted atWork, and their team was extremely responsive and helpful throughout the process. They quickly arranged for a replacement part, which arrived promptly and resolved the issue completely. It’s rare to find a company that combines good product quality with such attentive and efficient customer support. This experience gave me a lot of confidence in their brand. From start to finish, our experience with Lovers atWork Office Furniture was stellar! The new designs for our Principal's office layout and furniture were beautiful, the delivery of the new furniture was fast, and the team who delivered and set up our office was friendly and professional. Our Principal's office now looks amazing with all of the new furniture! The work station is streamlined, practical, and beautiful, and the soft seating area for school guests is wonderful. Today we received our new conference room table. The delivery from time of order was on time and the two professionals (STEVE & MAT) arrived and moved our old conference room table and installed the new one. It was a pleasure to deal with Lisa, Will and all the installers from atWork. They had the best price available for the furniture pieces we needed. Lead times were a bit long, but they disclosed that early on in the conversations. Even when there was a hiccup on the first delivery date, they worked diligently to ensure it was scheduled back in ASAP. Highly recommend and will be back for our next office furniture purchases.

I purchased my Humanscale Ergonomic Under Desk Foot Rest - HUM Natural Wood from atWork Office Furniture and am so very pleased with the quality of the product and the exceptionally fast and courteous service I received. My Under Desk Foot Rest has made the long hours I spend at my Computer and Desk so much more bearable, relieving back pain as well as aching in my legs and feet.
